T/4 Leo Martel worked for the Firestone Rubber and Latex Products Company.He enlisted in Boston, Massachusetts on 23 March 1942 and trained at Camp Lee, Virginia, Camp Kilmer, New Jersey and Camp Butner, North Carolina. He was sent overseas in October 1944.
