2nd Lt Francis M. Mc Murtry Jr. attended college before he volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States on 19 May 1942.On the way back, the airplane was attacked by enemy fighters. It ditched in the English Channel, off the coast of Dieppe, France.
The entire crew of ten men was killed.
