Sgt Joseph T. Underwood graduated from Russellville High School and was a clerk.He enlisted at Fort McClellan, Alabama on 18 January 1944 and was sent overseas in December 1944.
He was reported wounded in action on 17 February 1945 and died two days later.
Sgt Underwood is remembered at the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Russellville, Franklin County, Alabama.
