T/5 Franklin N. Massey graduated from Sylvester High School and was employed at the National Fireworks Company before he enlisted in Boston, Massachusetts on 20 March 1941. He was sent overseas on 22 August 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.

He is remembered at the Hanover Center Cemetery in Hanover, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.
