Pfc Leo J. Oberbroekling worked on the family farm farm before he enlisted on 26 March 1942.
He went overseas in April 1944.

He was killed by a mortar shell which struck almost on top of him.

He is remembered at the Saints Ann Cemetery in Geddes, Charles Mix County, South Dakota.
