When 1st Lt Russel D. Watson ordered his platoon to fall back, the column had difficulties with turning the vehicles under accurate enemy fire. Several men, including Lt Watson, were killed during the maneuver.He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Hochfelden, France.
