Pvt George A. Breckenridge was a meatcutter before he enlisted in Indianapolis, Indiana on 4 January 1943.

He saw service in the campaigns in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and France as a bulldozer operator and was transferred to the infantry only four days before his death.
