S/Sgt Claude Blackwell joined the Regular Army in Lubbock, Texas on 3 August 1940. He worked on a farm before he joined the army.S/Sgt Blackwell was killed by shrapnell in the head.
He was first buried in a temporary grave at Henri-Chapelle on 19 February 1945. He was disinterred on 25 November 1947 and his remains were prepared and placed in a casket on 3 December 1947. He was given his final resting place on 23 August 1948.
