More information

Pfc Frederick D. Wood enlisted on 10 June 1942.

Frederick was MIA after his company attacked pillboxes near the Siegfried Line in the area between Berg and Worth am Rhein, Germany. His remains were found and disinterred from a mass grave containing eighteen bodies. The fighting took place in that area around 19 December 1944 and that was the time that the 313th Infantry Regiment Company G attacked the pillboxes in the woods near Berg. It is assumed that Frederick D. Wood was buried sometime in january 1945. One identification tag was found around deceased's neck. He was buried by Russian Prisoners of War. The grave was marked with an iron pole with a American steel helmet on it. Frederick remains were brought to the cemetery of Neuville en Condroz on 5 December 1946.

His 3 brothers also fought in WWII.
