T/5 John R. Caruso enlisted in Hartford, Connecticut on 2 March 1943.He arrived in England in January 1944, with 623rd Engineers of Light Equipment Company and landed on Omaha Beach, Normandy, France in June 1944. He was assigned to 90th Infantry Division in December 1944.
T/5 Caruso was killed by a gunshot wound in the head and intially buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Foy, Belgium on 6 February 1945. He was given his final resting place at Henri-Chapelle on 21 October 1948.
