1st Lt John L. Perkins attended the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) for two years and was a retail manager.He volunteered for the Army of the United States in Albany, New York on 10 January 1942 and had been overseas since October 1944.
Lt Perkins was killed after his tank had been hit and set afire and he had climbed onto the rear deck to attempt to extinguish the flames.
