Pfc Roy M. Boettcher worked on the family farm.

From October 1944 to November 1944 he was hospitalized in France for wounds caused by small arms fire. Later in December he was wounded again in his face by artillery shell fragments.

He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal posthumously for his actions on 26 March 1945.
