Pvt Arthur D. Dean attended high school for four years and worked on a farm before he enlisted at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri on 10 December 1943.He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his leg.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
