Pfc William J. Keirns attended high school for four years and owned a farm before he enlisted in Toledo, Ohio on 14 January 1943. He was sent overseas in May 1944.He was killed by artillery shell fragments.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
