Pfc Angelo A. Aureli graduated from Solvay High School in January 1944 where he was voted the most popular member of the class.

He enlisted in Fort Dix, New Jersey on 4 March 1944.

Three of his brothers also served. At the time of his death, Enito recovered from wounds received in Germany, Roland just returned to his unit after also recovering from wounds, suffered at D-Day and Geno served with the Army Air Corps somewhere in Europe.
