1st Lt Vernon Hough was a mechanic before he joined the Regular Army in Austin, Texas, on 12 September 1940.The Bombardier Lt Hough bailed out directly ahead of the Navigator. His parachute was seen to open by other crew members. We were fired upon while hanging in our chutes and all members suffered from attacks by the civilians with guns. Hough was killed.
