More information
Pvt Maurice Bunde was a crew member in one of the six tanks left to cover the retreat of his division near Drusenheim, France. His tank was hit and set afire. Pvt Bunde was not seen to have evacuated the tank. Because the enemy occupied the area, no search for him was possible. A friend of Pvt Bunde, who was also a crew member of one of the six tanks, testified that Pvt Bunde had not escaped from the flaming tank.
