Pfc Max W. Smith attended high school for three years and was a lineman and serviceman with a telegraph and telephone company before he joined the Regular Army at Fort Francis E. Warren Cheyenne, Wyoming on 4 March 1941.He is remembered at the New Philadelphia Cemetery in West Liberty, Logan County, Ohio.
