S/Sgt John J. Bryant was a route man, employed by the Pantuxet Valley Oil Co.

He enlisted in Providence, Rhode Island on 9 April 1943.

From May 1944 to June 1944 he was hospitalized in Italy for wounds at his leg, caused by small arms fire.

He was awarded the Silver Star posthumously for his actions on 7 February 1945 in France.

He died of burn wounds all over his body caused by white phosphorus.
