More information
Dale Greeley graduated from Caldwell High School.Statement of 1st Lt Roy E, Osborne, who flew in the same mission: "I was flying Blue three and Lt Greeley was my wingman. We were dive-bombing the marshalling yards at Soest, Germany. We were flying a zero degrees heading at the time of the run. There was a cloud layer at 4,500 feet over the target, with the southern edge of the cloud running on an east-west line right over the target. We dived at the target, broke up and to the right. When I came up through the clouds and could look around, I did not see Lt Greeley's plane. I did see him just before the start of the dive-bombing run because I looked around behind me to see if he was in position. The attack took place about 0910 hours, 1 March 1945. My flight circled above the area for five minutes, but nothing was ever seen of Lt Greeley. I called him twice over the radio and received no answer".
A young German woman watched the pilot land in the fields near Korbach, Germany with his parachute, and distinctly remembers that he was taken away by some German "officials".
