Pfc Walter F. Beirne was employed by the Pollak Manufacturing Company before he volunteered for the Army of the United States in Newark, New Jersey on 24 January 1942.He died of wounds caused by artillery shell fragments in the thorax near his heart. The exact date when he was reported wounded in action and the location where he died are not known.
