S/Sgt Eugene W. Dority attended high school for four years and was a flagman when he entered the service in 1932. He served three and a half years with the U.S. Marines in China. He then joined the National Guard, and in March 1941, went into the regular Army. He served in Hawaii for nine months in 1942.
In December 1944 he was sent overseas to a replacement battalion in France which he left by the end of January 1945.
He was killed by small arms fire in the abdomen and pelvis.
