1st Lt George H. Herbert attended college for one year and was a salesman before he enlisted in Trenton, New Jersey on 11 August 1941.When the battalion commander’s tank was hit at a roadblock at the entrance to the town, Lt Herbert tried to swing his tanks down another street, but they were also fired upon and struck.
