Pfc George B. Barnes worked as a laborer for the California Water Service in Chico before he enlisted in San Francisco, California on 11 June 1942. He was sent overseas in August 1944.He was killed by small arms fire.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
