Pvt Roy J. Myers was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously, for his actions on 23 January 1945. He killed two German snipers lodged in a building in a duel of one pistol against German machine gun fire. Returning with an automatic rifle he killed a third sniper, dropped a grenade into the basement and drove a fourth into the open, where he shot him, although slightly wounded himself.
