Cpl Shaum graduated from the Nappanee High School. He formerly was employed by the Allison division of General Motors.His wife was a Private in the Women's Army Corp, serving in New York City, at the time of his death.
Cpl David F. Shaum was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
