2nd Lt Paul L. Smith attended college and was a manager before he enlisted in Camp Dodge, Herrold, Iowa on 22 December 1942.He was awarded the Silver Star Medal for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy on 2 September 1944.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
