Pfc Ray A. Allen attended high school for two years and was a driver employed by the William Kerns Trucking Co.

In July 1943, he was wounded in Sicily by small arms fire.

He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his actions on 8 January 1945.

On 26 March 1945, the 30th Infantry Regiment crossed the River Rhine in the vicinity of Worms, Germany. During that crossing the boat with Capt – Chaplain Loren L. Stanton and several medics on board capsized.
