Pvt James Murray worked in the aircraft industry before he enlisted at Fort Jay, New York on 10 April 1942.Pvt Murray was killed at a roadblock in Beek together with Pvt Ralph C. Pulliam, Pfc James S. Stephenson and Pvt William B. Harris.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Molenhoek, near Nijmegen.
