Pvt Ralph C. Pulliam enlisted at Camp Shelby, Mississippi on 6 July 1943 and received his paratroop wings in January 1944 at Fort Benning in Georgia. He was sent overseas in July of 1944.

Pvt Pulliam was killed at a roadblock in Beek together with Pvt James Murray, Pfc James S. Stephenson and Pvt William B. Harris.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery Molenhoek, the Netherlands.
