More information

Sgt Philip S. Davison Jr. attended college before he enlisted in Springfield, Massachusetts on 15 February 1943.

Sgt Edgar R. Lamb:

"I was flying as a tail gunner in Lt. Schiappacasse's plane. #33 was flying dog 23, and #48 was flying fox 13. At the IP, the enemy fighters, six planes, of ME 410 or 210, made the attack on the fox element. I first saw that #48’s engine started smoking very badly, and after the second pass by the E/A’s, he fell out of formation at 2 o’clock and under fair control. At that time, he was about 2,000 feet below us and 800 yards to our right. Then two men bailed out of the rear escape hatch. One man had apparently pulled his cord in the plane as he was holding the open chute in his arms while jumping. When I lost track of him, shortly after that, both chutes had opened, and the plane had straightened out under good control".

Anton Mueller, Wehrmacht Ingolstadt:

"Sgt Philip S. Davison Jr. was found in an aircraft near Ingolstadt, Germany".

He is remembered at the Brookfield Cemetery in Brookfield, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
