More information

Pvt Lloyd S. Wagoner attended high school for four years and was a foundry worker, employed by the Locomotive Finished Material Co.

He enlisted at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on 7 March 1943.

From March to April he was hospitalized for wound in the neck caused by small arms fire.

He was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously for his actions on the day of his death. When he saw an enemy group threatening to penetrate his platoon's position, he engaged the enemy, firing from an exposed position on the street, forcing the enemy to deploy and take cover, and allowing his platoon to take positions. While so engaged, Pvt Wagoner was shot and instantly killed.
