More information

S/Sgt Albert R. White joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in Peoria, Illinois on 3 September 1942.

Pvt James W. Taylor:
"I was flying in ship #50, and ship #38 was about 1,500 yards from the formation with another straggler. At about 1155, three enemy aircraft attacked from out of the sun, hit a B-24, which went down in a spin, then hit #38, which caught fire in #3 and #4 engines. I then saw fire coming from the waist windows, and the plane went down in a flat spin, burning as it disappeared into the overcast. I did not see any chutes at any time."

He is remembered at the cemetery of Dieterich, Effingham County, Illinois.
