Pfc Robert L. Bailey was employed at the Cumberland Battery Manufacturing Company before he enlisted at Camp Forrest, Tennessee on 7 January 1943.

He was killed by small arms fire to his chest.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
