Pfc Carmen A. Palumbo attended high school for one year and was employed at the Fafnir Bearing Company before he enlisted in Hartford, Connecticut on 30 November 1942.

He was reported wounded in action on 20 September 1944, caused by small arms fire in his skull. He died in a hospital two days later.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Militray Cemetery in Andilly, France.
