Sgt Ollie L. Sippel attended St. Boniface School and was employed at the Hartzell's Veneer Plant before he enlisted in March 1942. He was sent overseas in September 1944.

He was reported missing in action, while attempting to cross the Blies river in a boat near Frauenberg, Germany. The river was about 50 yards wide and at flood stage at the time of the incident.
