Pfc Clarence M. Horner attended high school for one year and was a policeman before he enlisted at Camp Dodge, Iowa on 31 March 1944.

He was a member of a patrol whose mission was to cross the Blies river and secure the high ground. While crossing the river his boat turned over and he was dragged under by his equipment.

He is remembered at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Riverside County, California.
