Pfc Arthur G. Skirrow graduated from Waller High School in 1940 and attended Davidson College for two years.

He joined the Army in Davidson, North Carolina on 17 October 1942. He was selected for the Army Specialized Training Program (A.S.T.P.) and studied at Mississippi State college.
