Pfc Philips T. Daffin attended high school for three years and was a sales clerk at the A & P Store before he enlisted in Baltimore, Maryland on 3 June 1941.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his back.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
