Pvt Frank L. Stokes graduated from Newport News High School in 1941 and was employed at the Newport News Ship Building and Dry Dock Company before he enlisted in Richmond, Virginia on 11 January 1944.
He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his chest.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
