T/5 Charles A. Phillips graduated from Chapman Technical High School in 1928 and attended Northeastern University in Boston for three years. He was employed at the Connecticut Broach And Machine Company before he enlisted in Hartford, Connecticut on 3 December 1942.He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand-Failly, France.
He is remembered at the Cedar Grove Cemetery in New London, New London County, Connecticut.
