Pvt Robert J. Svec attended high school for four years and worked on a farm before he enlisted at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on 28 July 1944. He was sent overseas in January 1945.He is remembered at the Schuyler Cemetery in Schuyler, Colfax County, Nebraska.
His brother Adolph F. Svec was also declared Missing in Action during the war and is remembered at the Walls of Missing in at the American Military Cemetery in Manilla.
