The infantryman had been overseas only since early January. He visited his family in Binghamton at Christmastime.
A former North High School student, Private Ross was proprietor of a Binghamton trucking concern known as Ross Delivery before he sold the business and entered the army in July, 1944. He received military training at Fort McClellan, Ala.
