S/Sgt John J. Semsey was a baker before he enlisted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 27 May 1942.His father immigrated in 1900 from Czechoslowakia. His mother came to America in 1904.
On the morning of 6 April 1945 he was reported missing in action. Several days later he was found to have been killed from a shrapnel fragment wound in his chest.
