Cpl William F. Quinn attended high school for two years and was a metal worker.He enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 1 April 1942. Initially he served with the Army Air Corps. He was later transferred to the infantry because ground forces suffered an unexpected high rate of casualties and needed replacements very quick.
