Stanley Kacucewicz graduated from Kenosha High School in 1938 and served for a year in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

He joined the Regular Army on 3 November 1939 and was stationed at various bases ultimately serving as an anti-aircraft artillery instructor. He received his commission to second lieutenant in January 1943. In October 1944, he was sent overseas.
