2nd Lt Edwin P. Lechowicz was a graduate of Hartford Public High School in 1937.He had been a member of the Connecticut National Guard for about a year prior it being federalized in 1941. He went to the Pacific theater with the 169th Regiment where he was stationed for 15 months. Returning to the States he was graduated from Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning with a commission of second lieutenant 21 August 1943.
Prior to joining the service he was a salesman for the Hartford Remington Rand office machine agency.
