Pvt Leonard Platt attended high school for four years and was employed at the Globe Forging Foundry before he enlisted in Syracuse, New York on 1 November 1943.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his face.

He is remembered at the White Chapel Memory Gardens in Dewitt, Onondaga County, New York.

His brother, Arthur J. Platt, is remembered on the Tablets of the Missing at the Manila American Cemetery, Philippines.
