Pfc Elsworth E. Hollinger graduated from Warwick Town Ship High School and was employed by the Animal Trap Company before he volunteered for the Army of the United States in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on 1 December 1942. He was sent overseas in June 1944.

He died of his wounds, received on 17 December 1944.
