Pvt Robert L. Nipper was employed at the U.S. Government Navy Yard before he enlisted in Huntington, West Virginia on 16 April 1943.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Hochfelden, France.
